My Five Best Fantasy Novels for 2017

A year ago I took a reading challenge but sad to say I failed it this year. I read about thirty books and fantasy actually did consume me. Ever since I was a kid I was imaginative, animated and so I chose the most magical ones. It made me dreamy on those long hours of commute and the best part was that it made me feel young again.  I took most of my time imagining and reading about faeries, fire breathing assassins and those Beauty and the Beast retelling novels. I was pretty excited sharing these books because these are the ones that made my heart stopped, made me cry a river and made me fall in love over and over again. If you are reading this and looking for books to read for your holiday readathon, I highly recommend these books that will surely make you want to be part of it. Happy reading! J

“I don’t believe in the kind of magic in my books. But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.”
― J.K. Rowling

  1. A Court of Thorns and Roses Series Yes! It’s a series and if you haven’t read any then help yourself and grab your copies now! No words! Ugh! So worth reading it though I don’t recommend kids below sixteen years old. Lol! You can also check out reviews at goodreads and it did actually received various nominations for different categories for 2017. If we talk about magical, this one should be on my list! 🙂
  2. Throne of Glass Series- Brace yourself guys! I read seven books! Seven! And another book is on its way for publish. Among other dystopian, this one is enchanted and exciting with unbelievable action scenes. I recommend this book because even though it’s a fantasy, romance was also a highlight on this series. And just in case you didn’t know, ACOWAR and TOG are both written by the same author Sarah J Maas so if you did like the other for sure you will love the other master piece of hers. I recommend for you guys to check out any bookstagram in social media and this series will surely be on the top hashtag lists. (wink)
  3. Caraval I was trying to rewrite the list to get a standalone book but I just couldn’t. This book is so worthy to be on the top three as I really did enjoy this book, from the first chapter until the end. I remember browsing online right after I finished reading it because I so wanted to know if the second book was already available but apparently not, another upcoming on my list for next year though. 😀
  4. The Wrath and the DawnWhat I love about this book is that book doesn’t have to be heavy to be a good book yet it should be entertaining. This sequel is uncomplicated, romantic feel good fantasy. Yes there may be some serious circumstances in the story but it was written in a very unfussy manner. When my friend and I read about the synopsis online we laughed, a king murders his wife before the crack of dawn (every day?!). Who wants to read that? Right? But I was wrong. As I flipped those thick pages I started to get hooked and you will be if you start reading the first few chapters.
  5. Mistborn- It is also a series but this one has a different story among other dystopian novels I listed above. Brandon Sanders did a pretty good job though I couldn’t explain it as other book experts do but girl! This is hell of a book. The magic, ashes falling in the sky, the strength that metals do in their power, everything was just perfectly plotted. A bonus points are the nuggets of wisdom from a character named Sazed, a scholar on this book.

Please do let me know if you read any of those! Happy holidays!
